As Guy says you'd need to be well prepared for playing on the allied side. Thats why I would probably opt to play German; as much as I'd like to play allied I'm not sure my fitness levels are up to the task.

Ditto, much as i'd love to play the allied E&E side, i don't think i'd be up to it physically. I think i'm of the age where guard duty and patrolling is more my level.

I did E&E in the army and I loved it.

Andy - that was my point. It wouldn't be good for us if an entire team new to WW2 airsoft just showed up and took over the allied side (although I can think of a few teams I'd love to see try. I'm sure between us we can make the TQ sessions after capture VERY realistic).

Steve - If your test is the qualifier for this, any hints as to what that might entail? And when and where would we take this test?
(As a side note, if this event IS in August, there is a Sterling Selection event in May that could be used as a partial primer - wonder if they'd let us turn up and do it in kit?)

1 yes this has come out of the IED E&E events. I've been to 3/4 and commanded the HF last time out . They are gruelling esp for the evaders , although you're paired up , it's mental toughness rather than physical ..although you need to be pretty fit as well . At IED capture will mean proper army interogation techniques....I've seen people stipped and thrown in pools of water in February at -5 ..not thinking of going near that for us . Our event will be less extreme than IED, the idea beingthat the Allies will have a chance to link up to actually do something rather than hide. If you went to Churchills you'll have seen some elements of this already

2 Scripted ? No , not as you've seen a lot of our games. Both sides will have missions, which should in theory give rise to opportunities for both sides to have a crack ..but beyond that once your out there it's really open for anything to happen . A lot more real a lot more "authentic" . Simple things like having to go to sleep at 6.30 on Saturday so you can patrol between midnight and dawn . IEDs E&E are the best thing I've done in airsoft just because you never know what the fuck is going on , even as HF commander. Your on the alert for 24 hours ..seriously nothing has ever come close.

3 Where - not sure will be big wooded site ( few come ot mind) looking at running this when the weather will be good and lots of daylight

4 Who becomes Allies ....er ....the places will be made available and go on a list . It is unlikley no one we don't know is up to it would be invited . Sounds harsh but there will be only ten ....if five flag out in the first six hours the event is effectively over ..

im not going to jump in and say yes,, i would like to see who is propective players, teams, sections for the allies, and a bit of info on the site( i am 40 but reasonably fit,spending 2 nights out on kinder scout in feb isnt to much hardship for me, we do it most weekends .) before i go for it. but it looks good.

Easy to sort that Che. Turn up friday, get bladdered. Game on 12:00 hrs Saturday, finish 1200 hrs Sunday.

Means we get a social, plus, game on at 12:00 Hrs sat means hangovers can be worked off by then

I could bring my Chocy Lab, he'd love it. I wouldn't bet on the Commandos getting away though, he's pretty good at hunting things down.

I've got a friend with a couple of dogs that might do the trick. Both are Alsatians. One's called Leni, the other Eva (not joking!)

Indeed. Although I wouldn't want to piss mine off to be honest. A Labrabor will trump an Alsatian when push comes to shove, especially one like mine that weighs close to 45Kgs. Luckily he is soft as shite most of the time! If you're talking tracking ability though you'd struggle to beat a lab really.

Yeah my Black Lab has some good sniffer built in tactics, she just doesn't like modern goggles.

I've had to buy some kriegsmarine U-boot goggles for her.

Could bring my cat it's good at sniffing out Feldgrau mice so something bigger should be easy

ive got 2 king charles cavaliers, useless for sniffing

but ive been looking at getting either a bassett hound or bloodhound in the new year, and as long as the game was held after april i could have him trained by then

its REAL HARD to escape a bloodhound or basset

plus it give me an excuse to get one too

though kermits right, alsatians would look best for the part. dogs would put a real fear in to the escape team, ive been tracked by hounds, and the baying and barking really gets the adrnaline going

If you had tracker dogs, surely the Allies would have no chance at all ? (And they'd need to be wearing goggles!)
